Overview

Mr. Beckman represents developers and owners in connection with assisted living, nursing home and long-term health care development and operations at locations throughout the country He was selected by Business Tennessee magazine as one of the 150 Most Influential Commercial Real Estate Individuals in Tennessee.

Mr. Beckman also handles all types of lending and financing transactions, representing regional and national lenders as well as borrowers as a part of a team of more than 20 lawyers at Baker Donelson handling real estate finance and commercial lending transactions. These transactions include corporate finance, real estate finance, securitized loans, loans from governmental entities (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, HUD), accounts receivable loans, securitizations, bond financing and other loans.

Mr. Beckman handles purchases and sales of businesses throughout the country. These include sales involving public as well as privately held companies and representation of both buyers and sellers. The transactions include a wide variety of industries, including nursing home and assisted living industries, textiles, computer and computer services, transportation, beverage, foundry, drug and pharmaceutical, industrial pipe, electrical parts supply and distribution, power supply and distribution, printing, parking, medical supply, energy supply and distribution, boat and leisure craft, chemical and chemical supply, and confectionary. He was selected and included in The Best Lawyers in America® since 2006 in the areas of Banking and Finance Law, Corporate Law, Real Estate Law, Securitization and Structured Finance Law, Mergers and Acquisitions Law, and Public Finance Law. He was also selected and included in Business Tennessee magazine's 150 Best and Brightest Lawyers in Tennessee.

Representative Matters
  • Represented a large privately held nursing home company, overseeing the refinancing of debt related to 52 of its nursing home facilities located throughout the country. The transaction involved refinancing approximately $370 million of existing debt. The debt was separated into three different loans, each with separate lenders and participants, and the refinanced debt was also combined with other existing debt our client carried with the lenders.
