Kathlyn Perez Discusses Parental Leave in New Orleans CityBusiness

As more employees and their partners juggle full-time jobs with families, businesses are trying to find a way to give new dads the same rights as new mothers.

In this CityBusiness article, Kathlyn Perez discusses how companies can address the growing trend of men taking leave during the birth of their child.

"One way for employers to address it, is to allow a gender-neutral maternity/paternity leave and just call it a parental leave policy and allow those men and women to take it," Ms. Perez said. "Obviously there would be a cost to employers who pay for leave. If you're going to allow somebody to take unpaid FMLA leave, it doesn't directly cost the employer other than to temporarily replace that person while they're gone."
