Join Baker Donelson Shareholders Joe Whitley and Ernie Abbott for the 10th Annual ABA Homeland Security Law Institute August 27 – 28, 2015, in Washington, D.C. This not-to-be-missed program looks at the state of homeland security – from infrastructure to exports, immigration to chemical safety and the roles of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), law enforcement, the Department of Defense (DOD) and the military, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD), the National Security Agency (NSA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and the legal profession in keeping our nation secure.

Speakers:

  • Joe Whitley, former and first general counsel of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and head of Baker Donelson's Government Enforcement and Investigations practice, is founder and chair of the Institute and will be a panelist on "Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA): Doing Business Internationally" (Breakout Session V, 2:15 – 3:15 p.m., Friday, August 28).
  • Ernie Abbott, former general counsel of FEMA and Baker Donelson Emergency Management and Disaster Recovery practice leader, will moderate "National Response and Recovery Framework: Legal Considerations in Emergency Management" (Breakout Session IV, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Friday, August 28).
