In this Daily Report article, Joe Whitley discusses the nomination of Sally Quillian Yates for deputy attorney general. Mr. Whitley, who was U.S. attorney for the Northern District early in Yates' career there, said Yates' work on that committee has given her an opportunity to be around all of the leadership at Main Justice [department headquarters], as well as the heads of agencies such as the FBI, Internal Revenue Service and Drug Enforcement Administration. He said Yates has both "a great familiarity with the operation of Main Justice" and "a complete knowledge of how the field operates."
"She's got a full appreciation of all aspects of the department," said Mr. Whitley.
