(Memphis, TN / April 1, 2015) The law firm of Baker Donelson has named Jenna M. Bedsole and Timothy B. McConnell leaders of the Firm's Labor and Employment Group. Ms. Bedsole will serve as Chair of the Group, a role previously held by Jennifer P. Keller, who assumes her role as president and chief operating officer of the Firm. Mr. McConnell will serve as Vice Chair of the Group, a role previously held by David Gevertz, who will maintain his employment law practice with the Firm.

As leaders of the Labor and Employment Group, Ms. Bedsole and Mr. McConnell will oversee more than 70 labor and employment-focused attorneys across the Firm's 19 offices. Ms. Bedsole and Mr. McConnell are frequent speakers on labor and employment law issues, including at Baker Donelson's Third Thursday Breakfast Briefing series throughout the year.

Ms. Bedsole represents employers in a broad range of employment matters, including the defense of cases under federal and state discrimination laws, and the enforcement of non-compete agreements. With the recent increase of wage and hour law cases, she has defended employers successfully in both single plaintiff cases and collective actions. Ms. Bedsole also conducts management and employee training related to employment issues in the workplace, and represents educational institutions and school boards regarding issues ranging from the Students First Act and the No Child Left Behind Act, to truancy proceedings, attendance zoning and the First Amendment. A registered mediator with the Alabama Center for Dispute Resolution, Ms. Bedsole is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® in Labor and Employment Litigation and was named one of "Birmingham's Top Attorneys" in Employment Law in 2014 by Birmingham magazine. She has been listed in Alabama Super Lawyers in the area of Labor & Employment since 2014, and was previously recognized in the publication as a "Rising Star" since 2011. Mr. McConnell counsels and defends clients in cases filed in both federal and state courts in matters arising under Title VII, the ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, OSHA and state-specific employment laws. He regularly represents clients in matters pending before the EEOC and the Tennessee Human Rights Commission, and provides management and employee training programs on various employment law-related topics. Mr. McConnell also counsels and advises employers through reviews and audits of employee handbooks and policies. Since 2010, Mr. McConnell has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America in Labor and Employment Law, and in 2014 he was named the publication's 2014 Knoxville Labor & Employment Litigation "Lawyer of the Year."
