(Washington, D.C. / April 30, 2015) Baker Donelson announces the addition of General (Retired) Howie Chandler to the Firm's Washington, D.C. office.
"General Chandler is a significant addition to our group, bringing a wealth of experience from his military service and his international aerospace expertise," says Sheila P. Burke, chair of Baker Donelson's Government Relations and Public Policy group. "His leadership will enhance the capabilities of our group and we are fortunate to have him as part of our team."
General Chandler joins as a strategic advisor in Baker Donelson's Government Relations and Public Policy group, with a concentration in the aerospace and defense industries. He served in the Air Force for 36 years. His last military assignment, concluded in March 2011 at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., was as the Vice Chief of Staff, United States Air Force. In this position he was responsible for formulating Air Force policy and guidance for more than 680,000 airmen, including organizing, training and equipping Air Force personnel for worldwide operations. Prior to joining Baker Donelson, General Chandler served as Vice President of Business Development and International Programs for Pratt and Whitney Military Engines, a United Technologies Company. In this capacity, he was responsible for domestic and international military sales, assessing U.S. military requirements and developing business strategies.

For 14 years, General Chandler's assignments as a General Officer included his roles as Commander Pacific Air Forces; Air Force Director of Operations in the Pentagon; Commander, Alaskan Command and 11th Air Force; Director of Operations at the beginning of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom at Air Combat; an additional Pentagon assignment as Director of Operational Plans; Chief of Staff, Allied Air Forces Southern Europe in NATO during the air war over Serbia; and Commander of the 56 Fighter Wing, USAF's largest fighter wing, stationed at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona.
A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, General Chandler also attended the National War College and participated in the Harvard Kennedy School's Program for USAF and Russian General Officers. He is a trustee of the Falcon Foundation and a life member of the Air Force Association, the Air Force Academy Association of Graduates and the National War College Alumni Association.
