Eve A. Cann and Travis J. Halstead Join Baker Donelson's Financial Institutions Group


(Orlando, FL / August 14, 2014) Eve A. Cann and Travis J. Halstead have joined Baker Donelson as associates in the Firm's Financial Institutions Group.

Ms. Cann, who joins Baker Donelson's Fort Lauderdale office, represents and defends banks and mortgage lenders and servicers in state and federal courts, and has a high level of experience with lender liability claims and other consumer finance issues. She is experienced in a broad range of banking law litigation matters, including Uniform Commercial Code claims and the enforcement of financial instruments.

A 2007 graduate of the University of Miami School of Law, Ms. Cann is a member of the American, Federal and Dade County Bar Associations. She was recently named a "Rising Star" in the 2014 edition of Florida Super Lawyers in the area of business litigation.

Mr. Halstead joins the Firm's Orlando office and has over nine years of litigation experience. He has served as lead counsel for more than 20 jury trials and more than 100 non-jury trials and has dedicated more than half of his career to residential mortgage litigation matters, defending lenders and servicers in foreclosure cases, counterclaims and private actions alongside appellate work and settlement agreements.

Prior to working in the mortgage industry, Mr. Halstead was an assistant public defender for Orange and Osceola Counties, where he managed thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases. He also practiced law in the U.K. and attended hearings at both the Magistrates' and Crown courtrooms. 

A 2002 graduate of the University of Miami School of Law, Mr. Halstead is a member of the American Mensa and Florida Bar Associations.
