Edward P. Meyerson Named President of UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center Advisory Board

(Birmingham, AL/November 9, 2010) Edward P. Meyerson, of the law firm Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, has been named President of the Advisory Board of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The Advisory Board of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center is a volunteer group of community leaders, many of whom have been touched by cancer in some way. The mission of the board is to raise funds, provide patient amenities and increase awareness of the Cancer Center. This is accomplished through three committees: Income Development, Patient and Family Services, and Communications and Public Relations. The Advisory Board was formed in 1984, under the guidance of Cancer Center Director Emeritus Albert LoBuglio, M.D. The board held its first fundraising campaign in 1986, and since then has raised more than $11 million for the center.

Mr. Meyerson, a charter member of the UAB Advisory Board, is a shareholder in Baker Donelson's Birmingham office and leader of the Firm's Construction Group. He concentrates his practice in the areas of construction law, litigation and mediation and arbitration. He has been recognized as a leading construction attorney in numerous publications, including Alabama Super Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America®, Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business and International Who's Who of Construction Lawyers. Mr. Meyerson is a former member of the Board of Directors of the American College of Construction Lawyers and is a member of the National Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators of the American Arbitration Association.
