Please join Baker Donelson Shareholders Kelly Overstreet Johnson and Gina Greenwood for the webinar "EMTALA 101: The Fundamentals of the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act – One of the Hottest Laws in the Country" on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Eastern.

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Region IV leads the country in Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) enforcement. Hospitals, emergency department physicians and on-call emergency department physician specialists are at risk of termination of their Medicare participation, fines and private lawsuits for EMTALA violations. Hospitals also may be ineligible for Value Based Purchasing Program participation for up to four years for immediate jeopardy citations. Is your institution in compliance? Are you?

This EMTALA "101" presentation will focus on training the audience in the must-know EMTALA essentials, including EMTALA jargon to impress surveyors. The experienced presenters will educate and entertain the participants with real life "war stories" sure to engage and will challenge the audience to focus on EMTALA as part of its compliance, risk management and auditing plans. Participants will complete the EMTALA 101 webinar with a better understanding of fundamentals that will serve as a foundation for a later EMTALA "201" deeper dive.
