Telemedicine, or technology that allows doctors to treat patients remotely, got a big regulatory jumpstart this summer with the passage of Louisiana Telehealth Access Act. In this New Orleans CityBusiness article, Donna Fraiche notes that the inconsistency in telemedicine licensure that each state requires complicates things for providers when their patients cross state lines.
"It's important to know that every state has their own legislation and that each state defines its medical parameters differently…" Ms. Fraiche said. "If you're operating over state lines, it's important to be sure whomever you're operating with has license in that state and certification in state."
