(New Orleans, LA/May 29, 2009) Donna D. Fraiche, of the law firm of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, has been named an Outstanding Health care Fraud and Compliance Lawyer by Nightingale's Healthcare News, a newsletter for health care executives and professionals serving the health care industry. Ms. Fraiche is among 12 attorneys from across the country who were named to the list, which is published annually by Nightingale's. She is the only Louisiana attorney included in the list.
Ms. Fraiche was recognized for her work defending Medicaid investigations for a variety of clients, including hospitals, third party administrators and laboratories. She handled one of the first Medicare cases involving an intersect between medical necessity denials and fraudulent billing with the Department of Justice and civil monetary penalties and kickback cases with the Office of Inspector General.

Ms. Fraiche, who is shareholder in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge offices of Baker Donelson, concentrates her practice in the general representation of health care organizations, companies and individuals in major regulatory, public policy and litigation efforts. She has been recognized as a leading health care attorney by The Best Lawyers in America® (Copyright 2008 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken S.C.), Legal Media Group and Louisiana Super Lawyers, and has been listed among the top 25 female attorneys in Louisiana by Louisiana Super Lawyers since 2007. She was previously recognized by Nightingale's Healthcare News as an Outstanding Hospital Lawyer.
A graduate of Loyola University School of Law, Ms. Fraiche serves as Chair of the Louisiana Health Care Commission, is a former member of the Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) and served as Chair of the Long Term Community Planning Task Force and the Health Care Committee. She was the LRA delegate to the Louisiana Health Care Redesign Collaborative chartered to develop and oversee the blueprint for health care policy in Louisiana. Ms. Fraiche, who is a fellow of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA), served as the first female president of the AHLA. She is a board member of the Pro Bono Project (New Orleans) and public interest justice center Louisiana Appleseed, and also serves as the Honorary Consul-General of Japan for New Orleans.
