(Memphis, TN/December 18, 2009) Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC is pleased to announce that Theresa E. Weir and Katherine H. Forseth have joined the Firm's Health Law Department. Ms. Weir joins as of counsel in the Washington, D.C. office, and Ms. Forseth joins as an associate in Atlanta. Previously, Ms. Weir was an associate with Hogan & Hartson and Ms. Forseth was an associate at Troutman Sanders.
Ms. Weir's practice is primarily devoted to health care, antitrust and consumer protection matters. She provides counseling and representation on an array of competition, privacy and health care regulatory issues, including issues arising from the Sherman Act, Clayton Act, Robinson-Patman Act and Federal Trade Commission Act, as well as from federal and state health care laws and regulations governing health information privacy and data use, such as the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and Medicare. Ms. Weir is a 2002 cum laude graduate of Washington College of Law at American University in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Forseth concentrates her practice on the representation of health care providers and other health care-related entities in a wide range of matters, including Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and fraud and abuse compliance, certificates of need and other government approvals, licensure, mergers and acquisitions of health care entities, reimbursement issues, HIPAA privacy and security compliance, business organization and operations, and nonprofit governance. She is a 2002 cum laude graduate of the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona.
