Anthea R. Daniels Joins Baker Donelson's National Health Law Group


(Cleveland, OH / February 4, 2015) Anthea R. Daniels has joined the law firm of Baker Donelson as a member of the Firm's nationally recognized Health Law Group. 

Ms. Daniels, who joins the Firm as shareholder, provides counsel to health systems, academic medical centers, hospitals, long-term care facilities, insurance companies, clinics, surgery centers and physician groups. She represents health care providers and insurers involved in mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, and reviews managed care regulatory and contracting issues, HIPAA and corporate compliance issues, fraud and abuse, OIG and DOJ investigations, Stark, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement matters and tax exempt issues.

A past president of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA), Ms. Daniels is also an AHLA Fellow and serves as chair of the inaugural Women's Leadership Council of the AHLA. She previously chaired the Cleveland Bar Association's Health Care Law Council and Health Care Institute. Ms. Daniels is a past member of the CCH Reimbursement Advisory Board and is past chairman and president of the Northeast Ohio Chapter of The Healthcare Financial Management Association, where she received its Founders, Merit and Muncie Gold Awards. She is currently on the board of directors for the Visiting Nurse Association of Ohio and serves on the advisory board for the Genomic Medicine Institute of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Prior to joining Baker Donelson, Ms. Daniels served as co-chair of the Health Care and Life Sciences practice at Calfee, Halter & Griswold, LLP, in Cleveland, Ohio. As a member of Baker Donelson's national health practice, she will continue to be based in Cleveland.

Ms. Daniels has been recognized as a leading health care attorney by Chambers USA since 2012, and has been listed in Ohio Super Lawyers, which named her among the top 25 attorneys in Cleveland, the top 50 women in Ohio and the top 25 women in Cleveland in its 2015 edition. She has been recognized by Crain's Cleveland Business Forty Under Forty, the YWCA Women of Professional Excellence, and Cleveland Magazine's 50 Most Interesting People. 

A graduate of the Case Western Reserve University School of Law, Ms. Daniels is a frequent speaker and author on various health care topics including hospital/physician integration, HIPAA, false claims and health care contracting.
