Do you quickly make assumptions about people – good or bad – without conscious thought? Do you categorize people without knowledge or background on who they really are? Do you ever wonder why such thoughts pop into your mind in the first place or influence your conscious actions? These mental shortcuts are very helpful and necessary to live, but in this decade, they could lead to incorrect assumptions, stereotyping, unintentional or unfair treatment, and unsupported employment decisions. Join us at this breakfast briefing to learn how your implicit (or unconscious) biases can impact hiring, work assignments, promotions, discipline and other decisions. We will also identify solutions to reduce the influence of implicit bias in the workplace.
