(Birmingham, AL/December 2, 2010) William M. "Bill" Lawrence, of the law firm Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, has been elected a member of the Board of Directors of the Over the Mountain Touchdown Club of Birmingham, Alabama.

The Over the Mountain Touchdown Club is a non-profit organization that meets weekly during the college football season to host respected names in football and other sports as speakers, while also benefitting the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, the American Cancer Society and youth sports programs in the "Over the Mountain" area of Birmingham, Alabama. The organization works to increase awareness through regular meetings, special events and dedication to these and other worthy causes.

Mr. Lawrence, a shareholder in Baker Donelson's Birmingham office, concentrates his practice in the area of business law, with emphasis on the representation of private and closely held companies in mergers and acquisitions, the formation and governance of various business organizations, franchising, technology acquisitions and agreements and employment relationships. He has been named to the "Best of the Bar" in Technology Law by the Birmingham Business Journal and named as one of Birmingham's "Top Legal Minds" by B-Metro Magazine.

A graduate of Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, Mr. Lawrence has been recognized for his active involvement in the American Heart Association, including being named the "Top Lawyer" in the Lawyers Have a Heart Campaign (2005) and receiving the organization's "Outstanding Service Award" in 2003-2004 and 2004-2005.
