Scotty Welch, senior counsel in the Firm's Jackson office, is a civil trial and appellate lawyer and mediator with current emphasis on commercial disputes, lawyers' professional liability and disciplinary actions (including service as an expert witness), financial services litigation, insurance coverage issues and first-party disputes, personal injury, and product liability litigation, and mediation of all types of cases. He has experience in the trial, appeals, and mediation of catastrophic bodily injury and death cases; industrial, agricultural and aviation product liability cases; and complex commercial and insurance litigation of all types. Mr. Welch appears as counsel in more than 130 reported decisions of the Mississippi Supreme Court, Mississippi Court of Appeals, United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit and the United States Districts Courts in Mississippi. 

Mr. Welch is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and of Litigation Counsel of America. He is a Past National President of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and a Past President of The Mississippi Bar. He served as Mississippi's State Delegate to the ABA House of Delegates (2001 – 2006), Member of the Board of Governors (2006 – 2009) and Member of the House of Delegates (1993 – 2009). Mr. Welch is Mississippi Chair of The Fellows of the American Bar Foundation. Mr. Welch is listed in The Mississippi Bar Mediators Directory in connection with the Court-Annexed Mediation Rules for Civil Litigation.
