Patton Hahn Talks with Birmingham Business Journal About Impact of Budget Cuts on State's Courts

As the Alabama state legislature continues to mull over the budget for the coming year in special session, the likelihood of deep cuts in the state's court budget seems imminent. In this Birmingham Business Journal article, Patton Hahn notes that one overlooked aspect of cutting the court budget is how it will affect businesses. Already, short-staffed civil cases with businesses can take up to two years to resolve, but with the proposed budget cuts, Mr. Hahn said he sees these cases taking up to five years.

"This is not good for business. Or for anybody," Mr. Hahn said. "When the people no longer have confidence in the justice system, you have problems."
