Lawrence C. Maxwell, shareholder in the Firm's Nashville office, concentrates his practice in matters involving engineering and technology, such as construction law, products liability and intellectual property. For more than 30 years, Mr. Maxwell has been extensively involved in corporate risk management, giving advice on contracts and insurance coverage, and in the resolution of disputes through litigation, arbitration, mediation and/or negotiation. He has handled numerous bench and jury trials in a wide array of civil litigation matters. Mr. Maxwell's ability to grasp technical subject matter and explain it simply to judges and juries, in addition to his attention to detail, has resulted in a highly successful track record. He is also a patent attorney, licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Representative Matters

  • Successfully negotiated a multi-million dollar construction contract with a municipality for a general contractor.
  • Affirmation of dismissal of a professional liability lawsuit against an engineering firm by Sixth Circuit.
  • Obtained judgment for an umbrella liability insurance carrier against another carrier for its bad faith failure to settle a lawsuit.
  • Assisted in mediation settlement of a multi-million dollar claim against an insurance carrier for a general contractor.
