Kevin Stine has significant experience in all areas of litigation, including bench and jury trials in state and federal courts, and various forms of alternative dispute resolution such as arbitrations and mediations. Mr. Stine is a shareholder in the Firm's Atlanta office, and focuses his commercial and business litigation practice on bankruptcy, insolvency, creditor's rights, secured transactions, and intellectual property issues.

In addition, Mr. Stine advises clients on a wide range of legal issues, ranging from contracts and employment matters to corporate governance and property rights. Mr. Stine's proactive approach with his clients includes practical legal advice to avoid disputes, where feasible. For instance, Mr. Stine has helped clients negotiate and draft loan agreements, liens and related debt instruments; standard contractual terms and conditions; restrictive covenants and other employment agreements, policies and procedures; and minutes, resolutions, notices and other corporate instruments.

Recent Representative Matters

  • Represented secured lender in multi-party bankruptcy proceedings involving water bottling plant.
  • Represented seller of manufacturing business in buyer's subsequent bankruptcy proceeding and successfully claims against seller relating to parties' purchase and sale agreement.
  • Represented commercial landlord, seller of business, and related creditors in bankruptcy of multi-state commercial stone yards, including defense and negotiation of settlement of two preference and one subordination action, negotiation of approved claims for creditors, and protection of landlord's interest in commercial properties.
  • Defended ex-employees and their start-up business in suit by national consulting firm involving trade secrets and restrictive covenant agreements.
  • Represented investor in securities fraud suit against corporation and its principal, resulting in recovery of judgment against defendants for principal amount of investment, interest, attorney's fees, and $100,000 punitive damages.
  • Successfully defended manufacturing company and its shareholders in fraud lawsuit and obtained directed verdict at trial.
