Heather Camp, of counsel in the Jackson office, devotes her practice primarily to gaming-related matters in Mississippi. She represents domestic and international businesses and individuals seeking or holding gaming licenses before the Mississippi Gaming Commission and other Mississippi governmental bodies. Her clients include casino developers, casino operators, gaming equipment manufacturers and gaming device distributors as well as their equity holders, officers, directors, key employees, gaming employees, lenders and landlords.
Ms. Camp has practiced in this area for more than 13 years and provides a wide array of legal services to her clients, such as:
- Supporting client efforts to identify and acquire suitable gaming sites and facilitating regulatory approvals related to the suitability of, and the construction and operation of gaming establishments on those sites;
- Guiding clients through the gaming licensing process, including assisting clients and client affiliates in obtaining registrations, findings of suitability, key employee licenses, work permits and institutional investor waivers;
- Guiding clients and client affiliates through the liquor permitting process;
- Advising clients regarding the regulatory requirements applicable to, and the consequences of, proposed financing and equity transactions as well as obtaining regulatory approvals and waivers required in connection with such transactions, including mergers, corporate restructurings, corporate reorganizations, public offerings, private placements and extensions of credit;
- Preparing opinion letters regarding gaming-related issues;
- Representing clients in disciplinary matters and in patron disputes;
- Counseling clients regarding compliance issues; and
- Analyzing proposed changes to existing gaming law, including identifying and addressing potential client concerns related to such changes.
