Tyler Ball is an associate in the Jackson office of Baker Donelson where he concentrates his practice in the areas of federal, state and local taxation, as well as business law.

Mr. Ball advises clients on tax and business matters concerning for-profit entity selection, formation, operation and dissolution, including mergers, acquisitions and other types of reorganizations. In addition, Mr. Ball routinely represents clients' interest at the federal, state and local levels through both administrative and judicial proceedings concerning estate, gift, income, employment, use, sales, franchise and property taxes.  

Representative Matters

  • Represented the interest of a large-scale manufacturer in a stock sale for approximately $400 million to a publicly traded company, as part of which a §338(h)(10) election (an election to treat the transaction as an asset sale for tax purposes) was made.
  • Represented client's interest in the acquisition of a retail food service franchisee.
  • Secured favorable installment agreement for client with significant federal tax liabilities.
  • Advised high net worth client on estate and business succession planning, which included the development of a structured plan for efficiently gifting business and non-business property to second and third generations.
  • Secured favorable state letter ruling for client related to the non-taxation of specified retirement products.
