Baker Donelson's Carter Thompson Appointed Chair of DRI Drug and Medical Device Committee

(Jackson, MS / October 13, 2015) J. Carter Thompson Jr., a shareholder in the Jackson, Mississippi, office of Baker Donelson, has been appointed chair of the Drug and Medical Device Committee of DRI.

As chair of the committee, Mr. Thompson will lead the group of more than 1200 in-house and outside counsel who represent the manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, medical device, biologics and other products created to provide health benefits to consumers. He will serve a one-year term as chair and will be eligible for reappointment to a second term.

Mr. Thompson, leader of Baker Donelson's Product Liability and Mass Tort Group, focuses his practice in the national, regional and local defense of products liability, drug and medical device, commercial and professional liability cases. He has more than 30 years of experience defending product liability and other claims and lawsuits across the country and abroad.

A Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, Mr. Thompson has been an active member of the DRI for almost 20 years, previously serving as vice chair and program chair of the Drug and Medical Device Committee. He is a member of the Product Liability Advisory Council, Lawyers for Civil Justice and the American, Mississippi and Capital Area Bar Associations. Mr. Thompson has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America since 2007 and in Mid-South Super Lawyers since 2006. He has also been listed since 2007 as a leading litigation lawyer in Mississippi by Chambers USA: America's Leading Business Lawyers and has been listed in The International Who's Who of Product Liability Defense Lawyers guide since 2011.
