Professional Biography


Steven Press is a business litigator and trusted advisor to numerous publicly traded companies. He protects his clients across Baker Donelson's footprint in disputes involving breach of contract, fraud, restrictive covenants, and trade secrets. His experience expands across the state and federal courts and includes mediations and arbitrations.

He has particular experience in both the financial services and automotive industry sectors. For his financial institution clients, Steven handles loan workouts, addresses financial and covenant defaults, and assists as lender's counsel on transactions. Steven assists broker-dealer and investment advisor clients with interpleader actions, SEC investigation and enforcement proceedings, and defends broker-dealers and their employees when necessary. For his automotive clients, Steven handles government investigations, breach of warranty and fraud claims, and related litigation. Steven also is outside counsel for privately held companies and assists them with all legal needs as they arise.

  • Vacated a $28,500,000 judgment awarded in violation of procedural due process.

  • Arbitrated numerous cases for the nation's largest privately held automotive group addressing Fair Business Practices Act, fraud, and breaches of warranty.

  • Successfully navigated numerous government investigations into clients' business activities and negotiated favorable resolutions.

  • Received a $1 million bench trial verdict on behalf of employee arising from an oral contract of employment and full judgment recovered.
