The realities of the emerging healthcare marketplace are quickly being recognized. This American Journal of Managed Care article highlights some realities related to state exchanges as discussed by Layna Cook in "The Impact of Health Reform's State Exchanges," her presentation at the National Association of Managed Care Physicians (NAMCP) Spring Managed Care Forum. Ms. Cook notes that there will be implementation challenges for many stakeholders including the consumers, providers, states, and federal government, but that, despite those challenges, by January 2015 all exchanges must be fully operational and self-sustaining.
