John G. Calender Named Among Outstanding Healthcare Antitrust Lawyers by Nightingale's Healthcare News

(Washington, D.C./January 14, 2008) John G. Calender, of the law firm of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, has been named an Outstanding Healthcare Antitrust Lawyer by Nightingale's Healthcare News, a newsletter for healthcare executives and professionals serving the healthcare industry. Mr. Calender is among 12 attorneys from across the country who were named to the list, which is published annually by Nightingale's.

Mr. Calender was recognized for his recent work on healthcare antitrust matters, which includes defending major Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice antitrust trials and investigations involving mergers, price fixing, market allocation, benchmarking, monopolization and price discrimination. He has also represented pharmaceutical companies in litigation and investigations and recently represented a hospital in a major Federal Trade Commission investigation of its acquisition of a competing hospital.

Mr. Calender is managing shareholder of the Washington, D.C. office of Baker Donelson and is a member of the Firm's Board of Directors. He concentrates his practice in the antitrust area before federal agencies, in antitrust litigation, commercial litigation and government investigations. Mr. Calender is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the American Health Law Association.
