Do you quickly make assumptions about people – good or bad – without conscious thought? Do you categorize people without knowledge or background on who they really are? Ever wonder why such thoughts pop into your mind in the first place or influence your conscious actions? These mental shortcuts are very helpful and necessary to live, but in this decade could lead to incorrect assumptions, stereotyping, unintentional or unfair treatment, and unsupported employment decisions. Come to this breakfast briefing to learn how your implicit (or unconscious) biases can impact hiring, work assignments, promotions, discipline, and other decisions and to identify solutions to reduce the influence of implicit bias in the workplace.
