Baker Donelson's Sam D. Chafetz Becomes Rule 31 Listed General Civil Mediator

(Memphis, TN / April 28, 2014) Baker Donelson announces that Sam D. Chafetz, a shareholder in the Firm's Memphis office, has become a Rule 31 Listed General Civil Mediator for the state of Tennessee.

As a Rule 31 Listed General Civil Mediator, Mr. Chafetz is able to serve as a neutral party who assists in the resolution of disputes through a voluntary settlement process that is less costly, time-consuming and adversarial than litigation. He joins the Baker Donelson Center for Dispute Resolution, a select group of approximately 20 Baker Donelson attorneys with experience in a variety of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) techniques, including mediation, conciliation, mini-trials, neutral investigations, neutral evaluations, non-binding and binding arbitration, and ADR audits.

In his role as a business transactions attorney, Mr. Chafetz has represented public companies, family-owned and other private businesses, and individuals in negotiating transactions and in matters involving business governance, succession issues, business dissolution, executive separation, vendor/customer interests, lender/borrower interests and business purchaser/seller interests, in a wide variety of industries.   For over four decades, Mr. Chafetz has assisted his clients and their adversaries in avoiding litigation, with its attendant costs, delays and uncertainty.  He has consistently earned the respect of both his clients and their adversaries through the negotiating process, thus facilitating the efficient and expeditious resolution of difficult and complex competing interests.  Mr. Chafetz's practice has been conducted on both a regional and national basis, and he is available for mediation of commercial matters across the State of Tennessee.

Mr. Chafetz has received numerous accolades for his community work, and has been named to several top attorney lists such as The Best Lawyers in America® and Mid-South Super Lawyers for his business transactional and securities work.
